Louisiana Art & Science Museum

|   Baton Rouge, LA
Overview: This concept design and master plan was developed to address myriad issues faced by Louisiana Art & Science Museum. Originally a train station in Baton Rouge, the historical building had been designed with two separate entrances due to local segregation laws. As a result of this legacy, the museum’s circulation and program layout was confusing to visitors and staff alike. To resolve the issues, the design re-organizes the museum to allow for a clear visitor flow through exhibits while creating important functional connections to curatorial support spaces. In addition, a new outdoor sculpture terrace serves as an exhibit and event space that is raised to the height of the adjacent levy, offering views and pedestrian connections to the Mississippi riverfront.
