This “mega-station” project transformed North Station into a multi-modal transit hub, linking commuter rail and Amtrak services directly to the realigned Green and Orange Lines.
The project included a new, multi-level subway station for the Green & Orange Lines, integrated with a new bus transfer facility at street level and a five-story office building above. The subway station is linked directly to North Station by way of a new, below street level pedestrian concourse. The project also included proposals for the development of two air-rights parcels along Causeway Street.
The project has served as a catalyst for adjacent Transit Oriented Development projects over the Central Artery spine that will deliver additional residential units to this vital neighborhood, while also increasing the sense of connection to the north end neighborhood.
